A superb single crystal of the rare Platinum Arsenide Sperrylite, from the Noril'sk area, Russia. The town in the north of Russia was mostly founded to mine the nickel, platinum, copper deposits in the area within the Arctic circle. This specimen has a single well formed cubo-octahedral crystal measuring to 0.8cm set centrally on a matrix of bright metallic yellow Chalcopyrite. The Sperrylite crystal has the typical well defined and silvery mirror-like crystal faces, contrasting beautifully against the Chalcopyrite.
