Sphalerite Botryoidal Form

ID: CC5133

A rare relatively large Cornish botryoidal specimen of Sphalerite from the Fowey Consols Mine, Tywardreath, Cornwall. The specimen of light brown to grey brown Sphalerite displays raised areas of rounded botryoidal habit. Internal faint banded structure of the specimen shows the successive depositions of the Sphalerite, on a white Quartz veinstone. A fine example of the variety, probably collected pre-1867.
