Thomsenolite on Cryolite
ID:
CC720
Massive semi-translucent Cryolite hosts several exposed cavities containing rare Thomsenolite crystals. Transparent to gemmy with faint yellow colouring, the largest of the Thomsenolite crystals is 9mm in length, accompanying a 6mm terminated crystal. The crystals are elongate with pseudo-square cross section, and are often in parallel to their neighbouring crystals. Accompanied by a label from the Mineralogical and Geological Museum of the University of Copenhagen, this is a fine specimen of a rare mineral from its type locality.
