The specimen is something of a curiosity from the Nentsberry Haggs Mine, Alston Moor. A slightly odd shaped Ball of white Witherite measuring to 3.3cm sits at the centre of the specimen. Angular shards of Quartz replaced Limestone protruding out from the Witherite Ball at various angles. These are in turn littered with orange-red to dark brown crystals of Sphalerite. On the Witherite are also to be seen micro-balls of white 'Hydromagnesite' ? and a druse of intergrown micro Calcite crystals. A neat really unusual quirky specimen of Witherite from the mine, and is the first we have seen of this configuration from the mine.
