Classic aesthetic specimen of translucent Witherite on Alstonite from the Fallowfield mine, Hexham, Northumberland. The crystals of Witherite are pleasing displayed on the specimen as two major inter grown pyramidal crystals measuring to 4cm tall, with a twin peak appearance. A smaller crystals is seen inter grown with the two lager crystals, with another Witherite crystal grown at an oblique angle from the matrix. The host matrix for the Witherite is a druse of spiky Alstonite crystals, from colourless to a faint pink tint. An excellent Witherite specimen from the mine.
