A single prismatic crystals of Zircon is the feature of this specimen from the Betafo District area in Madagascar. The Zircon crystal measuring to 3.6cm tall sits proud of a creamy granular vitreous quartz matrix, with a sub-metallic rich deep red-brown colour. Specimens of Zircon are not readily available from the area, and are considered to be largely a waste product from the pegmatites.
