CHALCOPYRITE on TETRAHEDRITE with CHALCOPYRITE var. Blister Copper

Herodsfoot Mine, Lanreath, Liskeard District, Cornwall, England
SPECIMEN DESCRIPTION

The iridescence on this small miniature specimen from Herodsfoot mine is amazing. Consisting of a rich mass of crystallized Tetrahedrite with a Chalcopyrite core, the outer crystal surface of the Tetrahedrite is coated with a film of velvety iridescent Chalcopyrite along with some globular concretions. There are significant areas of surface damage, but there is also no escaping the beautiful purple and blue colours. Ex Malcolm Southwood collection.
