SPECIMEN DESCRIPTION

A splendid cabinet specimen of intergrown, gemmy subtle smoky pale blue cubic crystals of Fluorite from the Boltsburn West mine, Rookhope, Weardale, Cumbria. The Fluorite crystals measure to 1.2 cm and many are preferentially coated with dark chocolate-coloured, saddle habit Siderite crystals. The Siderite has formed while the Fluorite was still growing within the vein system and replacement flats. A fine cabinet specimen from the western section of Boltsburn mine, with an intense neon purple fluorescence under long wave UV.
