CAVANSITE with STILBITE

SPECIMEN DESCRIPTION

A most attractive specimen of the calcium vanadium silicate, Cavansite, forming five spherical aggregates of electric-blue acicular crystals perched over a flat carpet of colourless to pale flesh-pink Stilbite crystals. The underlying matrix is Deccan Trap amygdaloidal basalt. From the famous Wagholi Quarries in the Pune District of Maharashtra State in India, the largest Cavansite sphere measures 1.6 cm in diameter. A great example of this most attractive and rare calcium-vanadium silicate.
