JANKOVIĆITE with PARAPIERROTITE and REALGAR (Polished Section)

SPECIMEN DESCRIPTION

This resin-mounted polished section is the type suitable for reflected light microscopy and Scanning Electron Microscopy studies. It is rich in Realgar (arsenic sulphide) but also contains extremely rare thallium compounds including Jankovićite and Parapierrotite, both of which were first described (Type Locality) from Allchar in the Republic of Macedonia. Collecting is now heavily restricted at this extremely important and unusual geochemical site and so important scientific samples like this are hard to come by. The measurements represent the size of the polished block (2.5 cm diameter) and not the rock embedded within.
