QUARTZ var. Sceptre Amethyst

Chiredzi mining district, Masvingo, Zimbabwe
$600€504£441$600
SPECIMEN DESCRIPTION

This large miniature sceptred Quartz specimen is like a small rocket. Material from the Chiredzi mining district, Masvingo, Zimbabwe was launched on the mineral market in 2019 but appears to have been short-lived, perhaps because the deposit was very small. The defining features of this deposit are well-formed, gemmy Quartz sceptres, usually with Amethystine tops, sat upon a narrow milky quartz prism base. This large miniature specimen is a fantastic example, being not just a single sceptred Quartz crystal, but a cluster of three crystals in parallel growth. Added to this, the Quartz displays an enchanting wispy zonation from Smoky to intense Amethyst. The glassy lustre is extremely bright and the crystal faces beautifully charismatic. One tiny conchoidal chip can been seen on one edge of the termination and one small area of the lower part of the sceptre aggregate is missing where the crystal was presumably attached to matrix, but overall this is an exceptional example from this occurrence. The specimen is mounted on an acryllic base for display.
