A most handsome miniature of Spangolite and Brochantite from the famous Mex-Tex mine at Bingham in Socorro County, New Mexico, USA. Small crystals of bluish green Spangolite and Brochantite rich coat a matrix of massive Quartz over which are some micro-crystallised ferruginous Quartz crystals. The Mex-Tex operation mined lead ores hosted in the Council Springs Limestone member of Carboniferous (Pennsylvanian) age. Spangolite is a rare hydrated copper-aluminium sulphate hydroxide chloride while Brochantite has a simpler chemical composition of hydrated copper sulphate. Spangolite is a highly sought mineral species.
