A lovely miniature featuring a perfectly formed, transparent, colourless Gypsum crystal protruding from a nicely contrasting matrix of milky white Alabaster from Fuentes de Ebro, Zaragoza, Aragón in north-eastern Spain. The quarry at Fuentes de Ebro works an Alabaster deposit, Alabaster being a massive form of translucent, white Gypsum with a fine texture, commonly used for carving. The Gypsum, hydrated calcium sulphate, forms a completely colourless and transparent crystal which can almost disappear against or into its background. A terrific miniature Gypsum o Alabaster from the famous province of Zaragoza.
