When one thinks of classic historic Epidote localities, Knappenwand always comes to the top of the list. Although perhaps not unique, the long prismatic crystal form is certainly extremely distinctive and specimens are always very desirable. This miniature specimen features a 48 mm long main Epidote crystal, well terminated, and surrounded by several smaller crystals in parallel growth and minor Byssolite. The prismatic Epidote crystals are the typical very dark green colour and highly reflective. Mounted on an acrylic base for display. Classic material indeed.
