From the superb systematic collection assembled by Martin and Michael Günther (1951-2007 & 1956-2021) comes this lovely large miniature Plagionite from Wolfsberg, Stolberg, Harz, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. The specimen dates back to the 19th century, having been in the collection of Senator Friedrich Jakob Kessler (1805-1889) - it is accompanied by an old typed label documenting this. Plagionite was first described from the Graf Jost-Christian mine at Wolfsberg in the 1830s and so there is a strong probability that this specimen is from the Type Locality and that it was collected at around the time that it was named. It certainly looks like other specimens from Graf Jost-Christian mine. The Plagionite forms small (1 to 2 mm), but well-formed grey metallic crystals on Quartz.
