This fine large miniature specimen is from a fantastically named mine: Churprinz Friedrich August Erbstolln mine in the Freiberg District, Erzgebirge, Saxony, Germany. The aesthetics of this piece are exceptional, as is the fact that it appears to be pristine. The base is a thin plate of Siderite/Dolomite upon which Galena crystals are crystallized as complex modified cubes and cubo-octahedrons, the larger ones of which are aggregated as a stacked cluster at one end with smaller individual crystals scattered along the flat base of the specimen. Cream-orange Siderite/Dolomite crystals coat the base and also one side of the main Galena crystal aggregate. Specimens from this historic mine are rarely seen for sale and this crystallized Galena is a really fine example.
