MOSCHELLANDSBERGITE in BARYTE

SPECIMEN DESCRIPTION

This dense miniature specimen from Stahlberg, Nordpfälzer Land, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, consists of Mochellandsbergite in Baryte with Lithomarge. An old handwritten collection number (no. 2144) attached to this specimen relates it to Joseph Neeld's (1789-1856) collection which was dispersed by Gregory, Bottley & Lloyd in the 1970s. A Gregory, Bottley & Lloyd label also accompanies the specimen, cementing the link to Neeld. A great historic specimen from one of Europe's great Mercury-producing regions.
