A pleasing large thumbnail to small miniature specimen of crystallized Cinnabar with Native Mercury from the historically famous mercury mining region of Landsberg (Moschellandsberg) in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Cinnabar forms lustrous, deep blood red, flat-lying larger crystals and bright red smaller equant crystals on the surface of a small vein. The smaller Cinnabar crystals are really well-formed, sharp, and colourful and the larger ones display complex growth patterns. Native Mercury is present as minute silver balls scattered amongst the Cinnabar crystals. A small, but very well crystallized specimen compared to most from this famous European occurrence.
