A large and attractive layered specimen of Hematite, variety Kidney Ore, from the very precise location of Diamond Pit, Lindal Moor mine. The surface consists of many botryoids showing a nice red colouration indicating that it has not been polished. Internally, the layering is really well defined, showing the compact layers of dense fibres of Hematite, and also how the central layer/nodule core can fall out leaving behind a smooth pocket. A really lovely, and very large example, with a fantastic provenance. Comes with a small old handwritten label recording the details of the specific pit it was found at. Due to its weight an additional postage charge will be required.
