Quartz veinstone (containing minor residual Galena) from Wheal Carpenter, Cornwall, coated on many sides and within cavities with deep green Bayldonite. This specimen was collected by the legendary British collector Sir Arthur Russell, in 1949, and is accompanied by his distinctive neatly handwritten label. Although not considered to be the Type Locality for this species, Bayldonite from Wheal Carpenter was illustrated in Philip Rashleigh's first British Minerals book published in 1797, long before its formal description elsewhere. A lovely historic specimen presumably collected by Russell during his re-investigation of historic British mineral occurrences.
