FLUORITE with CHALCOPYRITE Inclusions

SPECIMEN DESCRIPTION

A classic Derbyshire specimen of Fluorite from Ladywash mine, Eyam. An elongated dome of intergrown Fluorite crystals measuring to 1.4 cm on edge form an aesthetic small cabinet specimen. The crystals of Fluorite are colourless and lustrous with sparkling metallic yellow inclusions of micro-crystals of Chalcopyrite. Exposed Chalcopyrite crystals are an iridescent blue. The underside of the specimen has a central core of white Calcite surrounded by black Sphalerite. A great specimen from this famous mine which worked from 1936-79.
