Aït Ahmane, Bou Azzer District, Tazenakht, Ouarzazate Province, Drâa-Tafilalet Region, Morocco
$750€630£551$750
SPECIMEN DESCRIPTION

Aït Ahmane in the Bou Azzer District, Morocco is a historically important locality for Gersdorffite crystals know since the 1960s, and sporadically producing exceptionally large and well defined octahedral crystals. This large display specimen was discovered c.2016 and features large clustered aggregates of sharp octahedral crystals etched from the surrounding Calcite. The Gersdorffite crystals are grey and mostly with a dull to slightly metallic lustre. They reach over 2 cm in size, but the largest crystal is missing its pyramidal tip. There are many well-formed crystals showing all around the specimen, but also a few fractured crystals too. However, for crystal size, this is a very fine Gersdorffite on a world-scale. Ex Nick Hawes collection.
