AZURITE with MALACHITE

Bisbee, Warren District, Mule Mts., Cochise County, Arizona, USA
$3500€2941£2573$3500
SPECIMEN DESCRIPTION

This beautiful Azurite specimen is from the world famous copper mines at Bisbee, Warren District, Arizona. Its full history is not recorded, but there is absolutely no doubting its quality. Large cabinet in size its layered ironstone matrix is coated by a layer of fibrous silky green Malachite concealed beneath a thin rusty brown film upon which a profusion of extremely glossy bladed deep blue Azurite sit. The Azurite crystals are simply gorgeous, of the finest 'wet' lustre and intense blue colour, and reach 1 cm in size. There is some minor damage to some of the Azurite crystals but they are so glossy that this damage is not easily seen. Big and dramatic, this is a truly wonderful Bisbee specimen. Ex Nick Hawes collection.
