Allargentum, a rare natural silver antimony alloy containing mostly silver but with appreciable antimony was redefined in 1970 based on material from University mine (Giroux Lake mine), Coleman Township, Cobalt, Ontario, Canada. University Shaft, from where this specimen comes, is the same as University mine which confusingly appears to also be known as Cleopatra mine, Penn-Canadian mine and Giroux Lake mine! There are surprisingly few images of this mineral from these mines on Mindat.org. This specimen is quite large (small cabinet size) and very rich, but probably not what you would term as a display specimen. Although not listed, there is probably also Native Silver present in complex intergrowths with the Allargentum. Interesting scientific material from the designated Type Locality. Ex David Hardman collection, no. 4183.
