It is rare to see any mineral specimen - other than double-refractive 'Iceland Spar" Calcite - available from Iceland. This quite large single terminated scalenohedral point of Calcite, from Borgarnes, 40 miles north of the capital Reykjavík, is a lovely exception. It comes from David Hardman's collection and probably dates back three or four decades. The termination shows very slight abrasive wear as would be expected in that time, but is in fine overall condition.
