This extremely rare and well-crystallized specimen of Linnaeite - cobalt sulphide - is from an equally rare locality: Kilembe mine in Uganda. Specimens are just never seen from this older occurrence, but this miniature specimen from David Hardman's collection (no. 1560) features wonderful silvery octahedral Linnaeite crystals to 2.5 mm across on Quartz and Chlorite, with massive Chalcopyrite in association. Linnaeite is one of those ore minerals that rarely forms discrete crystals - usually only masses seen in polished section, so this miniature specimen is very unusual.
