Berezovskii, Ekaterinburg, Sverdlovskaya Oblast', Middle Urals, Russia
$2300€1932£1691$2300
SPECIMEN DESCRIPTION

A delightful combination of Crocoite, Pyromorphite and Vauquelinite from the classic location of Beryozovsky (also spelt Berezovskii) in the Urals of Russia. Beryozovsky is the type locality to both Crocoite and Vauquelinite. Bright orange-red prismatic Crocoite forms characteristic acicular crystals, displaying a jackstraw array. Many of these crystals have characteristic steep terminations and are associated with bright lime-green druses of micro-crystallised Pyromorphite. Light olive green to practically black crystallised Vauquelinite extensively covers much of the specimen, and also forms epimorphs after Crocoite. Crocoite is a lead chromate and Vauquelinite, a complex copper-lead chrome bearing phosphate. An excellent article by Wendell Wilson on The Berezovsk District can be found in The Mineralogical Record, Vol. 47, No. 4 (July-August 2016).
