A very richly crystallized large miniature specimen of the rare hydrated copper aluminium arsenate sulphate hydroxide mineral, Chalcophyllite from Wheal Gorland, St. Day, Cornwall. 2/3 of the main display surface is covered in pearlescent, blue-green platy Chalcophyllite crystals and this extends around the edges of the specimen too. These small (to 2 mm) hexagonal platy crystals line cavities and form intergrown masses within a Goethite gossan with some remnant Chalcopyrite. The largest Chalcophyllite crystal-lined cavity, is 2.8 x 1.5 cm. As Cornish Chalcophyllite specimens go, this one is very rich.
